Treme: So far so good

Every time I go a long time without writing something, I manage to milk out an entire post about how I'm "back" and going to be doing things again. THIS IS NOT THAT POST. Skippin' it.

I caught on to The Wire too late (4 or 5 years after it ended), but I throughly enjoyed the hell out of it. Thanks to that show, I really have a great understanding of drug dealing and the gritty street life of Baltimore. I could probably move there and sell drugs, that's how much I learned from that show. You know SOMEBODY tried to do that. Or at least went to Baltimore and tried to act all cool.

Either way, I am now that way about New Orleans thanks to "Treme"- David Simon's latest way to make white people feel like they understand some heavy minority problems. And boy, do I! They got all flooded out, and now the poor parts of the city are getting treated badly. Also, musicians live hard lives. Also, the government!

It's a good show and it's drawing me in, plus the music is pretty hopping. It's kind of weird because they already spent part of the show ragging on some tourists for going to see what happened there, because they didn't REALLY understand what life was like there, like we do now for watching this TV show.

Anyway, I'm probably going to move there and sell drugs. They'd never expect it.
